WanderCARE Monitoring Systems

For Alzheimer's Patients, Developmentally Disabled, Dementia Sufferers, And Their Families

Many Home Health care patients and individuals with Special Needs wander unexpectedly, require constant supervision, and are in danger of causing harm to themselves and inconveniencing others.

The WanderCARE patient monitoring system can improve the quality of life and quality of care by providing "constant monitoring" for the loved one who wanders.

* Provides a unique method of locating the wanderer up to a mile away

* Can call family, neighbors and pocket pagers to notify of an emergency when using the optional voice dialer

* Can provide remote audible alarms when used in facilities

* Is completely portable and can be used on trips

* Is F.D.A. Approved for Market

* Can help manage a wanderer without debilitating drugs

System Description

Wanderers can be monitored using a WanderCARE transmitter worn on the wrist, ankle, belt, or carried in a special fanny pack. The transmitter is uniquely coded providing a personal identifier for the individual. The transmitter reports in every 12 seconds sending information on the wanderer's s activity level and approximate location. The caregiver can set a specific area of movement for the person which can be changed if needed. When the wanderer moves out of the set range, the system begins to analyze the movements. If the person fails to return within 1.5 minutes (adjustable) an audible alarm will sound and the caregiver will be prompted to take action.

The WanderCARE can also connected to a voice dialer which will notify up to four people (and digital pagers) of an emergency.

Attaching The Transmitter

The WanderCARE transmitter is versatile and can be attached to the wanderer' s ankle, wrist, belt, or carried in a special fanny pack. Since most wanderers show little tolerance to foreign objects being attached to them, placing the transmitter on the belt or using the fanny pack has been widely accepted.

The fanny pack is a CARE exclusive and is not only accepted but enjoyed by the patient. Since fanny packs are popular and can carry needed items (candy, toys, brush etc.) the wanderer wants to wear it. In addition, a special locking buckle is supplied.

Tracking A Wanderer

When a wanderer leaves the range of the WandeCARE system he/she can be located using the internal tracking capability of the system. By inserting the key and selecting the TRACKING MODE, the system becomes a powerful long range location device. The unit is carried outdoors and will operate 3 hours on internal batteries. Instructions are immediately displayed alerting the caregiver to a course of action directional antenna is used to determine the most direct path to the wanderer and distance is displayed each time a transmission is received. Maximum range is about 1 mile when tracking on land. This range will increase tremendously if tracking can be accomplished using an aircraft.

For The Family Who CARES.....

WanderCARE eliminates much of the stress-and much of the heavy expense of minute by minute close observation of Alzheimer's victims and the developmentally disabled. Because it allows those under supervision a greater degree of freedom, it fosters independence and self-sufficiency. Families, care centers, and institutions who must provide this level of care will discover that WandeCARE improves the quality of life for those they are responsible for while allowing for a more normal care environment.

WanderCARE is providing relief for families all across America:
